MY ART

My art is made up of natural wildlife animals using Northwest Coastal Native-American and Canadian First People's basic Designs to create my artwork.

I don't classify myself as a Native American or a Native American Artist, but as a part Native Hawaiian/ part Native American (Kiowa Osage) mixed blood person who likes and enjoys the challenge of designing pictures to sell to lovers of NW Indian/First People's Art.

About Me

Jack L. Winn, Jr.: Sekiu, Washington, United States; I was born in Canal Zone, Republc of Panama. My mother is half Hawaiian, and so after leaving, we returned to Hawai'i. I attended Hawaiian schools and the Honolulu Academy of Art, where I had 3 scholarships in recognition of "natural artistic talent," and learned different methods of painting. After college and 11 years of teaching, I moved to Neah Bay and was offered an opportunity to teach art and to pilot the art curriculum at Neah Bay High School. The only formal art education I received was from classes in junior high school, from Stanley Yamamoto, the art teacher. I learned the art of the Northwest Coast peoples on my own and fell in love with it. For 25 years I taught natives of the Makah Nation. A number of my students went on to become masters of Native American art and practice art for their living. Upon retiring I decided to use my talents and to develop my own style of Northwest Coast art. As you view my works keep in mine that I don't portend to be a classical native artist. My site shows what I like to do.

I create prints that become more beautiful if you mat and frame them. They make simple ART PIECES to beautify your dwellings.

I sell them in 22x28, 16x20, 11x15, and 8x10 prints. They are printed on the best quality art paper. Large prints are $100.00 and the smallest are $25.00.

You are welcome to peruse this site or come to the special celebrations on the Olympic Peninsula and other town celebrations during our short WA state summers: i.e. Juan deFuca Festival, Port Angeles, WA; Forks Rainfest Celebration, Forks, WA; and some of the Native American celebrations such as Tribal Journeys, and esp. my home site-- Makah Days at Neah Bay.

Look for me, maybe I'll give you a price-break if you HAGGLE with me...or, you can buy a piece already framed and matted, at a higher price.
